The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 and was awarded the ‘deemed to be university’ status in 1964. TISS is fully funded by the University Grants Commission, Government of India and operates from its main campus in Mumbai, and the off-campuses at Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad. Currently the Institute offers
53 Masters’ Degree programmes and 18 M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes in a range of socially relevant inter-disciplinary areas of Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Health, Human Resource Management, Labour Studies, Media and Culture, Applied Psychology, Disaster Studies, and Habitat Studies. BA degree programs in Social Sciences and Social Work are also offered from its off-campuses and B.Voc degree programs are offered through its School of Vocational Education, Mumbai campus (Please refer to SVE website)

Applications are invited from interested scholars with Masters and/or Ph.D degree in Social Sciences, Public Health Administration, Education, Education Administration, Management Sciences and allied disciplines, with expertise and experience in multidisciplinary education (such as, Vocational education, Vocational Technology Education, and Management of large educational organizations or programs), and inter-disciplinary subjects.

To provide academic leadership to the vocational education program implemented through the School Of Vocational Education, and set strategic goals for effective program delivery; to manage/oversee the said program implementation; to manage relationships/agreements with vertical training facilitators/ skill industry partners, and provide direction to building and strengthening the program; and to liaise with the government regulatory bodies for compliance etc and with other relevant external stakeholders to further the goals of the program.
A. Academic Positions:
|1.||School of Vocational Education (Mumbai campus)||1 (UR)||1|

- Minimum qualifications and Pay (asper 7th CPC): As per UGC Regulations, 2018 and subsequentamendments there of.
- In case the University receives large number of applications for the post, the University reserves the right to
restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis of academic score, as decided by duly constituted Institute Screening Committee/s and approved by the Competent Authority, which may be higher than the minimumprescribed,.

- Essential qualification for the Position:
|I||PROFESSOR: Postgraduate and Ph.D in Social Sciences, Public Health Administration,Education, Education Administration, Management Sciences and allied disciplines, with expertise and experience in multidisciplinary education (such as, Vocational education, Vocational Technology Education,) and management of large educational organizations or programs with inter-disciplinary subjects. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE ARE GIVEN BELOW AS PER REQUIREMENTS OF THE SCHOOL OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION|
|i)||An eminent scholar having a Ph.D degree, with at least 55% marks in Postgraduate Degree (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline mentioned above, actively engaged in program management with proven evidence of leading/ managinglarge funded projects preferably in the educationaladministration sector, and published work of high quality with a minimum of 10 research publications in the peer-reviewed international and national UGC- listed journals. |
Or, A demonstrated expertise of a minimum 10 years of work in research/teaching/ management in an Industry such as health, hospitality or educational sectorsuch as a university, or in the areas of Educational Management/ Vocational Training and Management or closely related fields, with evidence of high quality work in the area of vocational and technical education or management of large funded projects preferably in the education sector such as a university.
|ii)||A minimum of ten years of teaching/work experience in university / industries, with evidence of integrated curricula development that enhance academic and generic skills, to a diverse group of students|
|B.||An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant /applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not included in A ii above) / industry/ practice field, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/ relevant discipline, and has minimum of 10 years’ experience in the relevant field as mentioned above, supported by documentary evidence.|
Desirable qualification: For the Position, the following capabilities are highly desirable:
- Capacity to manage and lead multidisciplinary vocational educational programs;
- Proven ability to design curricula in any of the multi-disciplinary courses offered as vocational courses for B.Voc degree;
- Proven ability to build networks locally, regionally and internationally in the field of vocational education;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to engage with other faculty, staff and students and uphold
Institute’s academic standards; and
- Capacity to create teams for state-of-the-art subject related syllabi/ curriculum in diverse vocational areas.

|3.||The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number on the basis of academic score which may be higher than the minimum prescribed as decided by duly constituted Screening Committee/s and approved by the Competent Authority. The Institute also reserves the right to further widen the scope of desirable qualifications to suit the requirements of the post. |
Call letters for attending interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates by Speed Post/ Registered Post/Courier service/e-mail. No correspondence will be made with applicants who have not been short- listed/not called for interview. In case the University receives large number of applications for a particular post, the University in such cases reserves the right to adopt stringent criteria for shortlisting candidates to be called for interview either by conducting a written test or adopting a marking system as approved by Competent Authority.
|4.||Reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and Persons with Disabilities will be as per Government of India norms as amended from time to time.In case a candidate wants to claim benefits under the Persons with Disabilities category, the candidate’s relevant disability should be not less than 40 per cent. Proof, to this effect, must be enclosed with the application, without which the application will be treated as ‘General (unreserved)’.Reservation guidelines of Govt. of India, if revised in future shall be applicable & implemented accordingly.|
|5.||The University reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications, experience, etc., in deserving cases. Candidates shall not claim it as a right.|
|6.||The University reserves the right to fill any consequential vacancies, and /or to increase/ decrease the number of posts and make appointments accordingly.|
|7.||Selection will be made on the basis of candidates’ previous employment record and their performance in the interview. The University may utilize seminar /colloquium/Lecture and/or any other mode as a supplementary method in selection process.|
|8.||The candidate/applicant will have to submit a ‘NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE’ obtained from his/her employer to the University at the time of interview, if he/she is called for test/interview.|
|9.||Experience and qualifications will be reckoned as on the last date of submission of applications.|
|10.||The University also reserves the right to select candidates with higher qualifications than what is specified or to select candidates who have not applied for the posts or those with different specialization.|
|11.||No application of probationer for employment in other institution shall be forwarded.|
|12.||Canvassing or influencing in any form on behalf of the candidate will disqualify candidature. University reserves the right to take appropriate action against uncalled for influence and threat.|
|13.||The candidates selected for appointment are expected to join within 30 days of issue of appointment letter.|

|15.||In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the Institute shall be final.|
|16.||The University shall have the right to withdraw the advertisement of a particular post(s) or complete advertisement due to administrative reason(s).|
|17.||In case of any dispute, any suit or legal proceedings against the University, the jurisdiction shall be restricted to the High Court, Mumbai.|
